Come to a historic house this weekend to learn about baseball legends and feats in Jersey City, some forgotten, via Jersey City's Museum.
JERSEY CITY, NJ — The Museum of Jersey City wants to tell you all about how baseball legends like Jackie Robinson, Babe Didrikson, and Jack Dempsey made sports history in Jersey City.
"The city also produced some of America’s greatest athletes and coaches, many of them now forgotten," the Museum noted in a recent release.
Hear all about it at a lecture this Saturday, "Great Sports Stories of Jersey City," at 11 a.m. It'll take place at the Apple Tree House, a historic location at 298 Academy st.
The museum noted, "Peter Begans, curator of the exhibit "Legendary Arenas and the Legends Who Performed There," will tell their dramatic stories. Come to hear about the famous[players] like Babe Ruth, Jim Thorpe and James J. Braddock but also the forgotten like Huddie Oliver, Martha Norelius, Al Blozis, and Andy Stanfield.
Admission is free.
